Forih Clyde Navigation Scotland. The recent alterations in the British Navigation Laws render it desirable that Foreign shippers and shipowners should be acquainted with the facilities afforded to their trade by this navigation. This Canal is situated in the Central District of Scotland, it can be navigated by sea-going vessels not exceeding 683 feet in length, 197 feet in breath, und 8) feet draught of water. The main line is 35 Miles long: it connects the East Coast with the West Coast of Britain, and gives the means of a ready communication with Ireland. — A side Branch connects the main line with the City of I Glasgow which is 29 Miles from Grangemouth and 12 I Miles from Bowling Bay. The Entrance from the Firth of Forth is at Grangemouth, and from the Clyde at Bowling Bay. At Grangemonth, the Port for Glasgow from the East, there is a capacious Wet Dock, and at Bowling Bay a Tidal Basin, with extensive Quays and accommodation for the largest Class of Merchants ships, the depth of water at Spring Tides being about Twenty feet, and at Neap Tides, Fifteen feet. There are also capacious Basins at Grangemouth and Glasgow for the accommodation of the Timber Trade. The Canal is immediately connected with the Great Coal and Iron districts of Glasgow and the surrounding Counties. The Tolls and Dues are moderate — the highest rate of Toll, except on Gun-povwder, being Three half Pence pr Ton pr Mile, and of harbour-dues Three Pence pr Ton Register. — The Shore-dues or Wharfage on Goods is one Penny pr Ton.
