The Canal is immediately connected with the Great Coal and Iron districts of Glasgow and the surrounding Counties. The Tolls and Dues are moderate, the bighest rate of Toll, except on Gun Powder, being Three half pence per Ton per Mile — and of harbourdues Three pence per Ton Register. — The Shoredues or Wharfage on Goods is one pentry per Ton.
