WELLINGTON MONUMENT. Office We Works, C., : Ttehkall, London, 6th September, 1856. The Commissioners of Her Majesty:s Works and Pablic Buildings give Notice, that it is the intention of Her Majestys Government to erect a Monument in St, Pauls Catbedral, London, to the Memory of the Jate Duke o! Wellington, and that they are prepared to receive Designs for.the same from Artists of all Countries. Persons desirovs of competing, must send in Models onefourth of the size of the intended Monument, which is not 10 exceed at the base 13 feet by 9 fö t. Every Model, sent in is tö be inscribed with a Motto; and an Envelope; with the same Mötto on the outSid-, rontaining tbe name of the Competitor, must be addressed to the First Commissioner of Her Majestys WoFks and Public Buildings, Whitehall, London. Each Compeltitor is to state the exact sum for which:be will be prepared, if required, to ereet the Monument; and such sum must include all expenses, and not exceed 20,000 Sterling. The Monument to be made of Marble, Stone, Bronze, or Granite, or any of these materials combined; but if any Porhpetitör shall be desirous of using any material other than Carrara Marble, the Model must: betinted in those parts in which any other material is used, with the colour of such material, The Models by Artists residing within the United Kingdom, must be delivered in London. on or before the 4st of June, 1857; those by Artists residing abroad, on or before the 25th of June, 1857. The Models are to be addressed 10 the First Commissioner, and. delivered, carriage fred, at Westminster Hall, or somå other public place to be herea:ter determined; and duly advertised, where it is intended they shall be exhibited in July; 1837 The Commissioners will not be answerable for any damage or accident that may happen to the Models, The following Premiums, will .be given for the Nine most approved Designs. z For the First... .. 700.
