UPWARDS of thirty years ago a Retrospective Review was etablished, which had, for some time, great success. Sinco it was discontinued, the want of a Publication of this kind has been much felt and often complained of, and these compiaints pariy have led to the present attempt. If, indeed, the passing literature of the day can furnish materials for so many Reviews as are now established, one surely may be dedicated to the vast field of the literature of the Past. It ig oar design to seleet from this field subjects which are most likely to interest modern readers; we shall lav hefora them, from tima to time, Essavs on various branches of tha literatsre of former days, Enxlish or Feraga; we shall give accounts of rare and csious Books. point out and bring forward beavtiss rom forgotten Writors: and tel! tbo knowledge and the opinions of other das. It is, in fact, intended to comprise copious Critical Azayses of whatever Old Books seem to possess sufficient smterest under any of these heads; (the Works of Living ÅAuibors will ba excluded). In addition to these, one Division of each Part under the head Anecdota Literaria, will be devoted to the Priming, (for the first time) of Short Pieces from inedited Manauscripis, of different periods, preserved in the British Museum, tba Bodleian, and other Public or Private Libraries; and another Division w I! basopen to Correspoadenca on Literary Subjects Dette Tidsskrift udkommer med et Numer hvert Qrartal til on Pris af 4 Rbd. 24 8k.
