Forth Clyde Navigation SCOTLAND. The recent alterations in the British Navigation Laws render it desirable that foreign shippers and ship-owners should be acquainted with the facilities afforded to their trade by this navigation. This Canal is situated in the Central District of Scotland, it can be navigated by Sea-going vessels not exceeding 68. feet in length, 193, feet in breadth and 83, drought of water. The main line is 35 Miles long; it conneets the East Coast with the West Coast of Britain and gives the means of a ready communication with Ireland. — A side Branch connects the main line with the fity of Glasgow which is 29 Miles from Grangemoulh and 12 Miles from Bowling Bay. The Entrsnce from be Firth of Forth is at Grangemouth, and from the Clyde at Bowling Day. At -Grangemouth, the port for Glasgow from the Fast, there is a capacious Wet Dock, and at Bowling Bay a Tidal Basin, with extensive Quays and accomodation for the largest Class of Merchants Ships, the depth of Water at Spring Tides being about Twenty feet ardl at Neap Tides, Fifteen feet. There are also capacious Basins al Grangemouth and Glasgow for the accomodation of the Timber Trade. The Canal is immediately connected with the Great Coal and Iron districts of Glasgow and the surrounding Counties. . The Tolis and Dues are moderate, the higbest rate of Toll, except on Gun Powder, being Three half pence per Ton per Mile — and of harbourdues Three pence per Ton Regisier. — The Sboredues or Wharfage on Goods is Ome penny per Ton.
